I was lucky enough to work alongside Yiannis for many years, and also to share teaching with him. He was really dedicated to giving the students a good experience, was a thoughtful scholar, and was fun to work with due to his gentle but sharp sense of humour. What I'll probably remember most about him though, was his genuine care about his colleagues. He was always one of the first to volunteer when help was needed, and in recent months one of his main concerns seemed to be to not worry colleagues about his illness. He was the most thoroughly decent colleague that you could hope to have and will be sorely missed by many people.
